My grandmother isn’t going to make it to meet my son
My grandmother has been sick for a long time. We’re not particularly close, but we were growing up. She is a hard woman, but loved so deeply in her unique way. Her goal was to stay alive to meet her grandson, my first born.
I woke up this morning to a text from my mom saying she had a stroke and fell last night. She broke some bones and has no idea who anyone is. She’s most likely not making it out of the hospital this time.
This’ll be the first time I’m losing a grandparent. I know death is natural and in some ways I’m relieved her suffering and pain is coming to an end soon. But that doesn’t make it any easier in terms of grief. It’s almost too much to think about my son never meeting his great grandma, especially only being a month away from induction.
I’m wondering if someone has gone through something similar? How did you manage/cope with the grief?
