I (26F) feel disrespected and used by my friend (30F) what do I do?
I'm going to try to keep this short but there is a lot so, apologies if this gets pretty long.
So I have a friend that I met about 3 years ago through work. We mostly just chatted in passing since the business we worked for was usually pretty busy. My area specifically would have slow periods of time and I would float around seeing if other areas needed help. At this point, Nellie (fake name) and I are becoming closer as we work together. I am a crafty person and would use to take a commission here and there for different things. (Customized mugs, tshirts, and various crochet requests) I wanted to eventually be able to run and operate my own business but failed to get it off the ground but that is an entirely different story.
Now Nellie and I were forming a friendship and everything seems fine and dandy. She shortly after asked me to make her some custom tumbler and after talking some details, I agree. I think this is the beginning of our problems. I told Nellie how much they would probably be and she replied that she wanted to buy the tumblers and there would be leftovers so I could just keep them as payment. I felt a little off about this offer but eventually agreed because I figured I could sell the other ones. I didn't take into account that would be IF they sell.
As time goes on, we finally hang out and life is doing it's thing. I leave the company and start dating my current boyfriend. Nellie is getting married and asked me to make her ring bearer pillow. I agree and just decide to gift it to her as her wedding gift. No problem, I was happy to do it. She asked me to decorate her cake and we agreed that I would come over extra early in the morning to decorate before the event because the icing she wants is temperamental and her event is later in the afternoon so I would have plenty of time to get it done. She has two other friends show up to help set up and offer extra help. As I am working on her cake, I keep getting interrupted to go run errands and/or help with other tasks, resulting in some of her cupcakes not being finished before the wedding started. I was frustrated by the end and just wanted to leave and go home. We agreed on a price (I can't remember what it was now) before her wedding but now she was wanting to trade MJ for it. I eventually just agree to trade green (MJ) for it because I got tired of fighting with her about just giving me cash and whatever technically I didn't finish her order and I just wanted to get out of there.
Fast forward a little more and I closed down my "business" because I am being overwhelmed. I announced that I am no longer taking custom requests and will update if I begin again. I finished up the requests I was working on and officially closed down.
Now I should note that my job is only 3 days a week but 11 hour long and physically exhausting days. My days off for spent trying to catch up and just try to recover. Nellie and I would call and chatted or try to plan to meet up every couple of weeks to hang out. I should also add that Nellie and I do not live in the same cities but are only about a 10-15 min drive apart.
Eventually she started asking me to go pick up her prescription because she would get off around the pharmacy tech's lunch and didn't want to wait for them to come back or she just didn't want to drive to my town to pick it up. I recommend just changing her pharmacy to the town she lives in (especially since we both no longer work for the company where her pharmacy is located) so it would be easier for her. She gave me some excuse about not trusting the other pharmacy in her town and she doesn't want to deal with it.
I picked it up a few times but eventually just started giving her excuses or just told her I wasn't planning to go to the store (even if I was) because she started asking me every single month to go get her prescription. I didn't mind helping here and there but it is not my responsibility to get them for her every time. After a few months, she finally just stopped asking me to get it.
Now fast forward a little more and life is very busy. I started working a second job and have even less time to myself. Nellie asks me to crochet her some stuff. I try to say no and explain that I am not taking custom requests. She launches into some kind of speech about how she understands and she is not rushing me and she will buy the materials. At that point, I can tell she isn't taking no as an answer and just tell her those items will be "X" amount of money if she insists on placing an order. She agreed but then almost immediately was like well I'll just give you some MJ for them. OR YOU COULD JUST VALUE ME AND MY TIME.we go back and forth and eventually I agree because I'm tired of always having to do this game to get paid for my services. I have not even finished her first request and she is already requesting more from me.
I tried to tell her no, that I am working on MY own stuff and have VERY little time to myself and again just hear, "no rush, I know I come after that stuff" and so on but I know she is going to ask me in like a week if I have started them. I don't even want to make them. I have expressed to her so so so many times that I am struggling and feel like someone is always wanting/expecting something from me and I need some space. Instead she just pushes harder and acts like she understands but then asks about the stuff she is "waiting"
At this point, I feel like if her and I never talked again, I would be perfectly fine. There is more than just this stuff. I have many times gone back and forth with her because she is trying to get me to agree to her points of view or wants me to do something the way she does it.
She'll sand me message when she knows I'm sleeping or suppose to be sleeping for work. I do not use DND (I feel like I'm going to miss something important or an emergency) I asked her if during my 3 days that I work, if she could please pay attention and not send me tik tok or Facebook messages or whatever when she knows I'm trying to sleep. Her response "just use DND" OR just don't send me a message at 10:45 PM or 1:30 AM when I have to be awake at 2:30 AM!?!?
I feel like I am going crazy or something.
She doesn't seem to be a bad person but she is sooo difficult to deal with day to day. I'm starting to just wish I had never talked to her.
What do I do?
Thank you if you made it this far and hopefully this all makes sense. I'm sorry if it is hard to read. I am using mobile but tried my best.
