[F4A] Run of the Mill Worker (Slice of Life, open)

NSFWSlice of Life/Realism

“Did you hear about John? He got promoted at Joja Mart.”

“Lisa is still dating that skateboarder. I think he should get a real job.”

I sighed as I looked in the large bay window from the sidewalk. The people inside looked so happy. They didn't have to pull a double shift at the market like I did. Chrissy called in again, and who did they call first? Good ole reliable Brooklyn. Always on time, never complaining, busting her ass so she can keep her tiny apartment and shitty car that broke down again.

Just a week left, I thought as I stood there.

I switched the bag I was carrying to my other hand, and soon the sound of a salted sidewalk crunching under my boots filled the silent night air. The wind picked up and the clouds were descending from the mountains. I glanced up and saw only 5 lights for the tram. The resort would have fresh powder tonight.

When I arrived at my simple one bedroom apartment, I slipped the key in the lock and bumped against the door, popping it open. I tossed my keys in the bowl and set the bag on the table in the kitchen. I put the 4 dinners I bought in the freezer and set the oven to 400 degrees for my pizza.

I stripped down and hopped in the shower. I washed away my day with hot water and soap. I thought about how it had gone. Cain making his stupid comments about my ass. Lana invited me over to join the family for the holiday as a thank you for watching the house over Thanksgiving. Bruce and his “if you only applied yourself, you'd own the place” speech. I thought about my ramen lunch and the joint Carlos, and I shared after. I thought about the idiots, morons, and bad customers.

I sighed again and rinsed off. Once dry, I got in some pj's, popped my pizza in the oven and flicked on the tube. I watched the show about the b-list horror movie presenter turned custom car creator and waited for my pizza. I ate and fell asleep on the couch.

When I woke up, I got some coffee started and dressed in jeans and my hoodie. I slipped on my leather jacket and boots. Poured my coffee into my thermos and travel cup, packed my bag with a frozen lunch and headed out into the snow. The city was quiet. I could hear the bus down the block and just made it to the stop before hopping on.

The ride was quiet, I was alone. I got off at work and headed in. Stomping the snow off my shoes i put my stuff in my locker and my meal in the freezer in the breakroom. “Hey Carlos,” i say as I pass him, heading into the stock room to begin my shift. The Christmas season sucked. It was cold, super busy, shelves were empty, and the only respite was we had 2 hours before the doors flung open. They went by quickly after I popped in my ear buds and after a while I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around and saw...

This is a slice of life-style play. I wanted to explore real situations with real people. My character is often seen around town. She had a pretty well known bad upbringing, known as “that Reynolds girl.” A punk, goth, weirdo, whatever is from a drunk fuck-up dad, and a shitty stripper drug using mom. She’d done well in school, despite the deck being stacked against her and held a few odd jobs around town. She was known for being a bit of a tomboy and was very mechanically inclined, often found at the auto repair shop working on her motorcycle or fixing a friend's car.

As for you: Are you a dad picking up something for lunch? Maybe a mom who forgot the good butter for cookies? Have you just seen me around and wanna grab a burger? Are you someone I owe money to? It doesn’t need to be sexy time all the time but it could be. Let’s talk about what you want.

Futa prefered, but Men and Women are encouraged to respond!
