Enhanced IFC viewer capabilities for architecture & engineering workflows
Hi,
As Drime continues to evolve as a cloud workspace, enhancing the 3D/IFC viewer would be a massive asset for AEC professionals (architects, engineers, site managers, and clients).
Currently, previewing BIM models in the cloud is great, but advanced collaboration requires more specialized tools. Would it be possible to consider the following features for the IFC viewer roadmap?
- Model Overlay & Federated Models: Ability to load and align multiple IFC files simultaneously (e.g., overlaying structural, architectural, and MEP models).
- Layer & Object Management: Toggle visibility, isolate, or hide specific layers, IFC classes (walls, slabs, HVAC), or elements.
- Measurement Tools: Accurate on-screen measurement tools for lengths, surface areas, volumes, and distances between elements.
- Dynamic Sectioning: Interactive clipping planes (X, Y, Z axes) to generate real-time sections and inspect internal building details.
- Basic Clash Detection: Automated identification of geometric intersections/collisions between discipline models (e.g., pipes hard-clashing with concrete beams).
- BIM Properties & Metadata Inspection: Quick panel access to element properties (materials, dimensions, quantities, and IFC parameters).
- BCF (BIM Collaboration Format) Support: Ability to create, comment, and export annotations or issue pins linked directly to 3D coordinates.
Having these tools natively available in the cloud viewer would streamline model reviews and client presentations without forcing users to download heavy files into desktop software.
Thanks for considering this direction for future updates! :)
