Considering dropping out of A levels

NSFWA Levels :snoo:

[TW: SH, attempted suicide]

To give some context, I’ve been severely lagging behind in content and am barely prepared for prelims, let alone A’s. For the past few months I’ve been lacking motivation and energy to even read through and revise any notes due to struggling with my mental health. The stress was just too overwhelming and I engaged in SH and tried to take my own life, but thankfully failed. After seeing a counsellor and thereafter a psychiatrist, I’ve been diagnosed with Mixed Anxiety Depression and am currently on meds. To be honest, while I’m no longer feeling suicidal, I’m still not really able to stop myself from SH whenever I’m studying or sitting for my prelim papers. My dad has been encouraging me to drop out of A’s this year so that I can focus on my mental health and not let it deteriorate further, but my mum is telling me that I shouldn’t since that would just make the 2 years I spent in JC a waste, and that it would be better to just sit through the exams and get an incomplete cert. My parents have told me that they’ll respect whatever decision I make, and that they would have no expectations on my A level grades, and if I’m dropping out I’ll need to have a plan on what I’ll do afterwards. I’m currently really conflicted on what I should do and I’m scared that I’ll make a decision that I’ll regret in the future. My mind just feels like a mess with everything that’s going on and I would really appreciate some advice from anyone on what I should do, especially those who have been in a similar situation as me.
