I had to wait longer than expected for this piece to finish, but it’s here now and I couldn’t be happier! On labor day we celebrate the progress that organized labor has brought to our society. From the 8-hour work day, to guaranteeing worker safety , to fighting for not only livable wages but wages that enable people to thrive.

As threats such as automation, fascism (Especially built off the back of transphobia), and climate collapse loom around the corner it’s time to be brave a speak up for organized labor.Historically under capitalism government has been largely captured by moneyed interests (the Bourgeoisie) because they own the means of production, basically everything society needs to function. Unions flip the equation and give power back to the people through the threat of strikes.
