Best US boutiques? Looking for a better store after a bad experience.

So, to keep a long story short I had an abysmal visit while traveling recently and since I don't have a store near me anyhow (other than the mini ones inside Saks) I'd love to hear if anyone has a specific boutique or SA they love.

I had come in the store with a recently purchased bag to buy some charms and initial clips, but the associate just curtly said, "The initials are only sold online." I was genuinely confused so I said, "Oh that's odd, online says they're only sold in store?" Then he said he would check and opened a drawer quickly before telling me that they didn't have my initials in gold. When I asked about silver he quickly said he didn't have those either. I asked him if I could have them ordered, which at first he said yes but then said I wouldn't be able to put them on without the tool they use in store (contradicting his first statement about them being sold online only) and then said something even weirder that he never puts them on for anyone anyhow as he doesn't trust himself to do it and is afraid he'll damage the leather.

He didn't really say anything after that and sort of just stared at me. I wanted to ask if I could see some of the leather charms instead, but since he didn't offer for me to look at anything and started to walk away I felt too uncomfortable to ask. I had made an appointment (where I mentioned I was coming in for the initial clips) and taken transit into the city while traveling just to personalize my bag and ended up leaving empty handed. I'm feeling a little down and don't want this to ruin the original excitement I felt after buying the bag following a big career milestone. I want to give another boutique a chance and still have this fun experience.

So, this was a long winded way to ask--do you have a boutique or particular Sales Associate that you love? I'm willing to travel anywhere in the US, and perhaps outside of the US when I have some time off from work.
