7 — Starting small
I’m a 20-year-old woman and a teacher, and I’ve been struggling with consistency for a long time.
It’s 10:20 PM on September 8th, and I’m starting a 7-day experiment.
I make plans, get excited, try to change everything at once—and then eventually fall out of the routine.
But I don't think starting over is something we should be ashamed of. We all have to start over sometimes. Even disciplined people have bad days.
So this time, I’m not trying to become a completely different person in 7 days.
I’m starting with two ridiculously small habits.
- After school:
Come home → wash hands, feet and face → change clothes → THEN bed/tea/phone.
I picked this one because when I come home from school, I basically just collapse onto my bed. 😭
I don't know what happens to me, but the moment I enter my room, I can see only one thing: the bed.
I don't change my clothes.
I don't wash my hands or face.
I just go straight to bed.
So instead of telling myself, “I need to be more disciplined after school,” I’m making the first step ridiculously simple:
Don't touch the bed until I'm washed and changed.
- At 6:00 AM:
Alarm → sit up → feet on the floor.
This one is for the opposite problem.
I can have the best morning plan in the world, but none of it matters if I don't actually get out of bed.
So I'm not asking myself to wake up and immediately study, exercise, meditate, or become a productive human being.
Just:
Alarm → sit up → feet on the floor.
That's it.
For the next 7 days, I’m going to document what actually happens.
No dramatic transformation.
No pretending I suddenly became disciplined.
No “new me” bullshit.
Will post Tommorow night
Your elara ❤️
