Hi, my name is Christian and I would like to introduce you to my little cat Jiji.

I'm from Germany, so this post was translated into English with the help of a translator. It reflects the same story and information that I originally wrote in German on my GoFundMe page.

Jiji is only 10 months old. I chose his name after the black cat Jiji from the Studio Ghibli movie *Kiki's Delivery Service*.

Together with Jiji, I also adopted his sister Kiwi. The two have known each other since birth and were already especially close among their siblings back then. They sleep together, cuddle with each other and constantly seek each other's company. From the very beginning, it was clear to me that the two of them should stay together.

Unfortunately, despite his young age, Jiji already has quite a long medical history.

He has been diagnosed with herpetic keratitis in his left eye, which has now become severe, as well as hyperplastic gingivitis. His gums are not only inflamed, but also develop significant tissue overgrowth.

Over the past few months, repeated vet visits and treatments have therefore been necessary. Jiji has already needed several pain medications, three bottles in total so far, and he also received three treatments with Zylexis.

On July 30, he eventually had to undergo surgery. His mouth and teeth were examined and X-rayed under anesthesia, the overgrown gum tissue was removed, and six already permanently damaged teeth had to be extracted. This surgery alone cost around €667.

Unfortunately, at the same time, his left eye continues to be a major concern. His herpetic keratitis has now become severe. At the moment, Jiji needs two different eye ointments, one twice daily and the other three times daily, and in addition he has to take Famvir three times a day for three to four weeks, according to the vet's estimate. Each Famvir tablet costs €5.

He also currently has to wear a cone because he repeatedly tries to rub his affected eye and could seriously damage it further. In the worst case, there is a risk that he could lose his eye.

And unfortunately, we are still not at the end of his treatment.

His gums are continuing to cause major problems. He will most likely need another major dental surgery, during which the overgrown gum tissue will have to be treated again and probably the rest of his teeth will have to be removed.

Since the first dental surgery already cost around €670 even though only six teeth were extracted, I expect the upcoming larger surgery to cost around €1,000 or possibly more.

So far, I have already paid €1,256 myself for this medical case. With the next surgery, medication, further examinations and follow-up appointments, the costs will probably soon rise well above €2,000, and Jiji is not even one year old yet.

Of course, I will continue to make sure that Jiji receives every treatment he needs. But the costs have now become enormous. That is why I decided to ask here for voluntary support.

All donations will be used exclusively for Jiji's further veterinary treatment, especially for his upcoming dental surgery, medication, continued treatment of his eye and necessary follow-up appointments. The donations will be paid directly to me, as I am Jiji's owner and I pay his veterinary bills and medication.

I have also added a photo of his gums one month after the surgery, where you can see that the gum tissue is unfortunately growing back again. It has become worse since then.

Every contribution, no matter how small, helps cover part of Jiji's future treatment costs. And even if you cannot or do not want to donate, it would help us a lot if you shared the fundraiser.

Thank you to everyone who supports Jiji, shares our fundraiser or simply keeps their fingers crossed for him and his sister Kiwi.
