How to make friends

I’m 14 and home schooled and I live in the middle of nowhere in a forest and in town the kids are mean and disrespectful it seems and no kids my age like the stuff i like like working on cars on mechanical side like taking apart a engine how do I make good friends and I have separated homes wich makes it harder
