Sub update!

Pinned

Hey all, you might have noticed it's been a bit quiet around here!

A few weeks ago, we became aware that the r/wyverns and r/wyvern subs had been abandoned and may possibly become available again through r/redditrequest. I've been working the past few weeks to contact the mods and qualify for moderator transfer rights. It's a bit jarring to grow a community and then have everyone move over, so that's why my posts have decreased a bit while I was corresponding with mods and things were in the works, hoping that it could be a smooth process and then we could move over to r/wyverns and start again there.

The process takes a long while because there are many rules involved that involve time. For example, one has to message the moderators of a sub and wait five days for them to respond. Then, once you apply through r/redditrequest, if something falls through you have to wait 15 days to try again.

Originally I had requested r/wyvern, but my request got automatically denied by the bot. I contacted the mods of r/redditrequest and turns out there was a glitch where the bot thought the sub had been banned for under 30 days when it actually got banned years ago. They fixed this glitch but said I would still have to wait 15 days to request again.

In the meantime, I messaged the sole moderator of r/wyverns and they responded and gave me permission to moderate. They said they made me a moderator, but had accidentally made me an approved user instead (it was a restricted sub), and then never logged on reddit again 😭

To make matters worse, once the 15 days passed and I could request again, the r/wyverns sub had magically became a banned sub, and r/redditrequest has a rule that you have to wait 30 days after a sub has been banned. I reached out to the moderators of r/redditrequest again asking if they knew what had happened, but I have not gotten a response from them either. So I may need to wait another ~20 days or so to request the sub again 😭

Since I chose the name r/wyvernden because I thought those name were taken/lost forever, I think it's worth it to try to gain access!

tl;dr We found we could potentially gain access to r/wyverns or r/wyvern! But reddit is being reddit. It may take some time. This is why it's been kind of slower feeling here as I don't want to grow community just to uproot it later

Also: I've been prioritizing the r/wyverns sub since it seems the most general! Do you prefer r/wyvern instead? Let me know! I do only want to make this big move once 😭
