Amazon Technical Interview

Hi everyone, I recently had a technical interview for an Amazon SDE II (L5) role (not a full loop).

After the interview, I messaged the hiring manager thanking him for the interview, and he replied:

Sure, we can discuss more in the further rounds.

A couple of days later, my recruiter called and said the hiring manager wants to consider me for L4 (SDE I), not L5.

She said she is looking for an L4 req/headcount and told me that once she gets the req ID, someone from Amazon would reach out to me the following week.

My recruiter is currently out of the office.

Has anyone been through a similar L5 → L4 process at Amazon after only one technical interview?

How did it work out for you? Did you need another interview, and how long did it take to get matched with an L4 team?
