AI Hardware: Both a speculative bet and a hedge

Crystal Ball Post

Growth engine - check.

Tariffs + rising oil prices - hedge.

Which makes it a unique offensive and defensive segment.

Corrections will happen along the way, but that doesn’t change the fact that the overall trend can remain resilient and upward.

Burry and the bears are wrong this time, IMO. AI hardware is expensive, but it can also be cost-saving at the same time. It’s like purchasing a Toyota: there’s no bad time to buy it, especially when the economy isn’t great. The car isn’t cheap, but it’s durable and fuel-efficient.

However, increased investment in AI hardware and greater automation/complexity handling will likely mean more entry level jobs get displaced similar to how self-checkouts displaced some cashier jobs.

Ironically, my guess is that some of the same people in entry level jobs most vulnerable to AI and automation are investing in AI hardware as a hedge against their own jobs.
