audio issues in sonic adventure 2

hey, i just downloaded sa2 today on steam and iv been having issues with the sound, i did try google but im yet to find anything that can help me so i figured id give here a shot. iv only completed the first stage so far and the audio sounds HORRIFIC, when sonics speaking he sounds like hes in a different room entirely, and all the audio just sounds really faded and gone. I tried using steam to check for corrupted files but found nothing, would anyone know how i could fix this?
