Is the G2 Rebel 2.5x better than the G1 Explorer?

Thru axels, carbon fork, 1x10 drivetrain, 24lbs. Yes these are all great upgrades, but do they really bring 2.5x the value compared to the G1?

For the casual riding I’m doing I don’t see the benefit of spending $650 compared to $250. Especially since I have the G1 flat bar with a 1x8 drive train. The weight is probably the biggest differentiator imho but not worth the extra $$.

Tell me why I’m wrong!
