[Safari] Reddit freezes when opening a tab in background

Description: Reddit freezes for dozens of seconds or even minutes when a link is opened in the background

Device model: Macbook Pro Intel 2019
OS version: Sequoia 15.7.9 (24G830)

Steps to reproduce:

1. Open Safari
2. Enter reddit.com
3. CMD+click any link to open it in a background tab.

Expected and actual result:
Expected: link opens as quickly as any other page
Actual: It takes a long time for the page to render, it freezes. Reload does not help. Does not happen all the time, but frequently enough.

There are dozens of people reporting the same, e.g.: https://www.reddit.com/r/reddithelp/comments/1w4xpfz/comment/p8kh36y/?context=1&screen_view_count=2&ext-referrer=SEO
