how do I not obsess? (19f, 23m)
Hi guys, I (19f) have been seeing this guy (23m) for about a year now. We see each other almost weekly and have agreed from the start that it would be casual and not turn into something serious. He has his own reasons. I don’t want to get into a relationship before having worked through my issues, so a partner could lean on me and trust that I will be there to catch them if needed etc. We usually drink some wine, talk for hours and have sex. It’s kind of perfect. No strings, just two people together for a night.
I have been smoking weed for a couple of years now, but decided to take a big break or at least try to. I used to be very obsessive and a control freak and after half a week of not smoking weed, I feel it coming back. I hate that part of me. I have professional help coming, but that could be in 6 months.
I really like him as a person and I do not want to hurt him in any way. I’m scared I’ll go crazy girl again and obsess over him. He’d be the only thing I think about, I was like that before. I’m partly asking for advice for myself, because he’s such a great person to know. I have actual good conversations with him and I don’t really want to ruin him. Ruining him could either be in my head or in real life. When I get hurt, I attack. I have been trying to fix that myself and I’m getting help for it, but, like I said, that could be a couple of months.
Does anybody have any advice on how to not obsess over people? I just get in my own head. Thanks in advance. If you’re curious about anything or need more information, please feel free to ask! I’ll respond with the answer:)
