Gaming/Windows PC suddenly crashing, saying "Game.exe not responding"

Open | Windows

I keep getting crashes saying "Insert Game name.exe is not responding. It's been happening to games that have been previously fine, such as It Takes Two, which had no issues around a month ago. Other games such as The Big Walk, and How To Fish keep saying it's not responding. It happened much more frequently on the big walk game.

I reached out to DEVS of the big walk and they said On August 11, Microsoft released a Windows update (KB5121003) which broke an RGB peripheral driver called inpoutx64. Launching certain games, including Big Walk, can trigger this broken driver to cause a wide array of problems, including game crashes, visual stuttering, computer restarts and other errors.

Having troubleshooted this, and looking in the Registry Editor, navigating to the key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\inpoutx64 - I was told to do this and change value to 4, however this inpoutx64 was nowhere to be seen.

I then just got the latest redistributables of x64 and x86 - However it is still happening.

I'm using an RTX 5070 GPU, Ryzen 5600G CPU.

I'm aware the CPU isn't ideal, and I'm going to upgrade soon. However, I don't think it's due to this, as I've played much more demanding games, for example, 007 First Light with high settings and no crashes. Now a lot of my games are suddenly crashing.

A few months ago I changed my PCIE lanes to 2x8 to fix an issue I was having since upgrading to the 5070 GPU, where all audio, even outside of gaming was giving annoying popping sounds constantly. Changing the lanes fixed that (as a temporary measure) - while not Ideal, but could this be the reason games are suddenly having issues, or is it likely to be something else entirely, because I was gaming for months since the PCIE lane change.

Thanks very much if you're able to offer any advice
