Garlic from bulbils

Hey folks!

Anyone ever tried planting garlic bulbils and try to grow full bulbs from them? As this takes three growing seasons to accomplish, I'd like to know whether people have had success leaving the rounds in the ground. I'm hoping to avoid having to pull, cure, and replant the rounds if possible but I'm not sure if they do well over the fall-winter of that second year in the ground. Some resources I've found say they resprout in the fall, but these are from locations further south.
