Why would hooking up with a friend be negative?

If you had a buddy who is into guy on guy sex, why would a hookup be bad for the friendship? It would seem if you both interested in the same thing, you would continue to have the same interest afterwards, and still be friends. There is so much talk about losing a buddy after a hookup. Why would that happen? I can't figure that out.
