Unless gamers are willing to collectively cut off the real money train—PlayStation Plus active subscriptions—Sony is always going to win.

​We can post all day on Twitter, Reddit, and YouTube about digital storefront prices, hardware locks, or losing physical media, but corporate decisions are dictated strictly by recurring revenue.

​Sony’s gaming division generates billions because 120+ million people keep their PS Plus active every single month. Even if 500,000 furious enthusiasts destroy their consoles or vow never to buy another digital game, it represents less than 0.5% of their active user base. The casual majority playing Call of Duty, FIFA, and Fortnite will keep paying for PS Plus regardless.

​If you aren't prepared to cancel your subscription, accept that the platform holds all the leverage. Sony won years ago—and complaining on the internet while continuing to pay their monthly fee won't change a thing.
