Overshoot Weight
Hi all.
I suffered with anorexia from 12 to 20 y/o. I’ve been in recovery for over a year and a half now (currently 22 y/o), after many years of forced recovery & relapses.
The last two years of my ED were the worst years — reached my lowest and developed AN-B/P. A nearly fatal event caused be to give recovery a genuine shot, because there was no other way I could go.
I hit a restored, healthy weight at treatment in one facility, but continually ate above this due to extreme hunger. I was also taking Zyprexa, eventually getting off, and lost a bit but I’m above my original restored treatment weight (which I know was likely not appropriate for my healing).
I’ve been stable in what I believe is “overshoot” or my recovery body since November 2025, so it’s been about 10 months (since this post).
My question: For those who have similar or somewhat similar history to mine, did you develop overshoot, and did it naturally decrease over time, or stay the same? I have a strong feeling this is not where my body wants to be long term, but it’s here right now for the continuing repairs that still need to be done. I have spoke with dieticians about this, and they have given me the answer that they cannot predict a timeline. However, I’m curious to know what others have experienced regarding this topic.
