Firstly I decided to quit a few weeks back and only stayed for hatching 12 12km eggs at once, which i wanted to do for a while, so stuck around a little more.
And coming to my reason for quitting, it's health. It's ironic though, I started playing pogo again an year back to lose some pounds walking. but as time passed the game started doing more harm than good. it started during kyurem raids in january sometime. until then I was mostly walking and catching a little, but for that raid I bought 100 premium passes and decided to catch do as many raids. but the raids were soo diluted, it was literally impossible to do them on foot. I started taking my car to barely do enough raids to get sufficient energy to get them back. ever since then I started doing more and more raids(mostly NOT by walking to the gym). at first, it was just to use all my remaining passes. then quickly i started playing more and more till I started damaging my body.

See, the issue with pokemon go is, It's near impossible to play it in a good posture.
for your reference, here's comparision between good vs bad posture (for your spine).

In a game like pokemon go, you constantly have to look at screen and swipe to throw pokeballs for a long time that you tend to hold your phone lower (at the same height as your belly) which makes you bend your neck to view the screen. and for anyone playing seriously, you know the amount of time we had to constantly see the screen (like for 3 hours on raid day/community day or worse on go tour/go fest). this causes a great damage to spine overtime as when you bend your neck, the whole weight on your head puts a strain on your spine. which is bad in a long term.

But, just to be honest, it's not entirely because of game. But, the game compounds heavily on top of my work and other lifestyle choices which also also cause similar issues. And since I don't want to change my other lifestyle and my work, I decided to quit the game. Scopely's direction did make it easier as I started getting burned by event after event without a break. Again, many enjoy that. I didn't. It's decision to remove special research and replacing with timed research and go pass made it even worse, because unlike before I didn't have flexibility to just open app during event and play at my convenient time. the pressure to "must play during event or leave the premium rewards" is really bad for the game in my opinion. hope scopely realizes it before it's too soon.

Finally, It's not a rant post. It's meant to be a goodbye to this community as I'm leaving it too. And also a precaution to teens and young adults on this sub who may also get irreversible health problems if you don't control your screen time or take precautions.

\~Good Bye & have fun playing...

Finally I am ready to quit...
