Why is birth control always the first step??
I, 24F, have been having very irregular periods. Irregular in the sense that one month I’ll be on my period for the whole month and it’ll be easiest period ever, little to no pain just massive blood clots the size of my palm and the next month I’ll only be on it for 5 days and it’s the worst pain I’ve ever felt non stop. This last period I took 6 Tylenol in one day and it would only last for like 30 minutes before the pain came back and I would have no clotting, just bleeding through super tampons and overnight pads within 2 hours.
I finally went to the Gyno, I have never been before, and told her everything that was happening and she just immediately recommended an IUD. Even after I expressed my hesitation she still kept telling me the benefits of it and whatnot. Is that normal? Idk if they usually do exams for this type of thing as I’ve never been before but I just expected something more. After centuries of advancements in medicine the most women get is birth control??
I just wanted to know if this is what I should expect from every dr? Any one who’s had the same experience what did you do to help? Any advice is appreciated thank you
