Eyebrow piercings have large pustules

Hey all, I’m posting for my girlfriend, so I don’t have pics. I’m concerned about her eyebrow piercings, which she did herself about a year ago. They’re red and flaky, and the bottom part have constant large pus scabs, similar to severe acne, around the opening above her eye. This is happening on both eyebrows, and they’ve been like that for MONTHS. She’s very stubborn and refuses to see a piercer about them but frankly they’re an eyesore and super gross. Does anyone know what’s causing this reaction? Is it an infection? She says they don’t hurt
