Does a planning Engineer considered as real Engineer?
I have been working as a Planning Engineer for the past two years, and after this experience, I sometimes feel like I’m not really an engineer. Most of my work involves documentation, progress tracking, reporting, and presenting project status, but my decisions don’t technically influence the project or control what happens on site. The site team makes most of the real-time decisions, and even when I identify a problem or suggest a solution, I often don’t have the authority or responsibility to implement it. I feel like I’m mainly documenting and presenting what is happening rather than actually contributing to the project in real time. So sometimes I question whether I’m actually working as an engineer or just supporting the project through planning and documentation.
