TIFU Iced Tea
About once a day I make a pitcher of iced tea. In the morning, I pour some in my travel mug for the commute to work.
Last night I made the tea, but somehow got distracted and failed to put the pitcher into the refrigerator. My sleepy brain was so confused when I opened the fridge door and the whole pitcher was gone. I saw it sitting by the sink. The lid was on, so I figured I would just throw some ice cubes in.
Then I forgot to pour a glass on my way out the door.
9 hours later, I got home from work. Poured some tea and had a sip before I went out to cut the grass. A few minutes later, my mouth started to tingle a little. Nothing serious, but it was weird. I figured maybe I was allergic to some plant I had hit with the mower and it would pass.
As I kept cutting the grass, I took breaks to sip tea. When I finally finished, my lips and tongue were burning a bit.
I did not think a lot of it until I went to pour my second glass and realized that two of the "ice cubes" I had tossed into the pitcher that morning were actually jalapenos I had frozen on a whim (I did not have an immediate use for them and figured the options were to throw them out or freeze them) that were in the ice bin... When they thawed in the tea, the skins had split open.
TL;DR: Wanted some refreshing iced tea and got a mouth full of spicy jalapeno.
