Mumbai bridalwear company refusing cash refund after cancellation -1.5 lakhs gone. What are my options?

State: Maharashtra

I’m looking for legal advice regarding a bridalwear company in Mumbai and a refund dispute.

Timeline:

I placed an order for a bridal lehenga costing ₹1,59,960 and paid the full amount upfront by card.
Around 13 days after placing the order, I contacted the company and requested cancellation.
The company refused, stating that the invoice says “No exchange, no cancellation, dry clean only.”
I asked for a refund and explained that I would be willing to consider a reasonable deduction for any genuine work/costs already incurred.
The company has refused a cash refund but has offered the full amount as a credit note.
I do not want a credit note and would prefer a refund.
I have since filed a complaint with the National Consumer Helpline (NCH). The complaint is currently showing as “In Process.”

The company has not provided me with a breakdown of any work completed or non-refundable costs incurred before I requested cancellation.

I understand that the “no cancellation” wording on the invoice may be relevant, but I’m unsure what my legal position is, particularly given that I requested cancellation relatively soon after placing the order.

What would be the best course of action here? Should I wait for NCH to deal with it, continue negotiating with the company, or consider filing before the Consumer Commission if they refuse to refund?

I’d particularly appreciate advice from anyone familiar with Indian consumer law or who has dealt with a similar situation.
