Flickering with MBR Sync enabled

Hey I have this new AOC 24G4ZR and it's great except it flickers when I enable MBR Sync and the in-game frame rate fluctuates. Is this just an inherent side effect of the backlight strobing with the MBR Sync technology (VRR plus MBR) or is it a cause of concern? I know the total monitor brightness going down is normal but I'm just curious about this flicker. It's not a cable issue, I have tried both the included DisplayPort cable and a third-party one, in all ports. I contacted AOC directly but that'll take a few days for an answer from them. Thanks.
