Are we in danger?

Hi,
I have a shed that’s being cleaned out on the side of our house today. There are rats in there. I’m hoping this is just anxiety but I’m worried that the people cleaning it up will be stepping in it (droppings) and tracking it around. It will be hours after we get home and the sun is out. If it’s exposed to sun for a few hours then if there’s hantavirus, it will be dead, correct?
I have kids and pets. We do take shoes off in our entryway. Maybe I’ll have them take them off out front today?
Am I worrying too much?
We live in Northern California.
