[3178] Massacre isn’t bad?

SpoilerWebnovel - Volume 13

Sunny’s state doesn’t feel like he’s been fully robbed of himself. It feels more like he’s been left to find what his core values are and to shape himself off of that. Maybe that is part of embodying a concept. We see that the shadow has dos and don’ts. He despises corruption and needless sacrifice, especially human sacrifice to a god. He doesn’t kill randomly. He is also extremely caring for the people he cares about.

That being said, I do not think that killing the city is against Sunny’s core values. Sunny is extremely caring and extremely spiteful. Sunny doesn’t have a no kill rule and generally wants to protect people but that doesn’t seem indiscriminate. I don’t consider that a core value of his. It’s like the same way that Nephis wants to protect humanity but she would also lead them all to their deaths if it came down to it. It’s something they want but not something that is at the very core of their being. In the domain war, they did not want to sacrifice humanity but were in a situation where they may have had to. They had to be willing. And this isn’t considering how different the situation in the nightmare is to outside of it. If Sunny weighed humanity against his friends and Rain, I’m pretty sure humanity would lose.

Now for the massacre. Sunny never claimed to be the face of justice or anything but he does dislike evil. Although he typically won’t go out his way to stop it unless it affects him. The shadow knew what the city people were like and he had seen their type before. He had watched what he called cruelty and them looking down on others. He still let them be even though he didn’t like them. So it’s not as if he killed them unprovoked.

If we put Sunny in the shadow’s position, I wouldn’t put killing them past him. If Sunny lost everyone he cared about (Tatal) and then you basically mock them (Saying they’re performing human sacrifice like Tatal, something evil that she’d never do), I could easily see him wiping out your people that are already committing evil. He already said that everyone was essentially spitting on Tatal’s legacy by being cruel and corrupt. Then they brought the most Vile act from that society directly to him which he even previously warned them not to do.

It’s not like it was a single instance of evil and everyone else was innocent so I don’t see it as being very against Sunny’s character.
