International GEM Applicant with a Few Days Out, Severe Burnout, and Scores Dropping
Hey everyone,
I’m an international graduate student applying for UK Graduate Entry Medicine (GEM) courses, and my exam is on 14 September. I am currently experiencing severe burnout, brain fog, exhaustion, etc., and I feel like I've completely hit a wall.
My highest mock score was a 1900 on Medify, but my scores have been consistently dropping since then. I already have all the proper gear like a keyboard with a number pad and a whiteboard to simulate the test center environment, but mentally I am crashing.
I am definitely struggling the most in DM. I completely run out of time to actually process the questions, I get overwhelmed by the logic puzzles, and end up having to guess/blindly click through a massive chunk of it. Similar to DM, I am getting bogged down in QR with complex multi-step math and running out of time to even read some of the questions. Also, with VR, I don't even know what I am doing wrong. Trying to read the text triggers my brain fog and I can't even absorb what I need to look for. I know all of the strategies for all of the sections and have tried to apply them, but I still can't get to where I need to be.
Being an international student trying to clear the incredibly high thresholds for a tiny handful of GEM seats has turned my anxiety up to a 10/10.
Has anyone else (especially GEM or international students) gone through a massive score regression right before test day due to fatigue? How did you pull yourselves out of it? Any tips for my last few days before my exam??
Any advice, triage strategies, or encouragement would be deeply appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
