Sometimes a photo that isn’t of him but still somehow is about him. She says it’s nothing. She says she’s just excited to have a new friend. She says it while she’s in bed, txting me from the other side of the mattress, or from the bathroom, or from the Uber home after hanging out with him.
I play her boyfriend. I answer. I ask questions I probably shouldn’t. I get quiet. I get hard. I tell her to stop and she doesn’t.
You play her. You txt like a real girlfriend who cannot shut up about this guy. Sweet with me. A little too detailed. Maybe you don’t notice what you’re doing. Maybe you do and you like watching the dots appear and disappear on my side.
