Electronic Refund Indicator?

What's the meaning for this indicator? I did some research in the thread and some people say its for direct deposit enrollment but I enrolled nearly two months ago at the start of July. I have applied to some scholarships that I have not yet heard back on yet so I'm wondering if this could be a potential sign... but don't want to get my hopes up if its just a meaningless indicator
