How do you move on from a 10?
22m. Ik this is hella embarrassing but it has been 2 years now since and I still catch myself thinking abt my ex. She was easily top 1% in terms of attractiveness, was also very down to earth, sociable, got along super well. Only met a handful of ppl in my life that I’ve gotten along w as well.
I haven’t met that many people in the last 2 years that would even come close to being as pretty as her or anyone that I’ve been as compatible w. I thought by now I’d have a few prospects but nah. Ik ppl are gonna say “looks aren’t everything bro” yeah I but I also def know if I settle w some nice girl I’m never going to be as happy as I was. Im on top of my shit, I’m in good shape, have a prestegioius internship, have a lot of friends, go to a top school etc. but idk it hasn’t rly changed much in the last 2 years life feels kinda mundane now comparatively.
In fact, I notice the more I age and the further I advance in my career the less women I meet in my life, much less girls that are sociable and are pretty, I’m getting kind of worried that I’m never going to find someone as good again. I think a large part of the issue is that im in the tech industry. I’m based in the us for school but Around 90% of the ppl I meet in uni are Indian for some reason, which for dating sucks because I’m not Indian and am more into my own race. My school (it’s a tech based top engineering school) is also famous for having very unattractive/socially clueless ppl and the rumors are very true. Before I transferred here I didn’t have an issue meeting women. Even when I interned I thought I’d be able to meet some cute girls but only a small handful of the engineers in my company were women. The few girls that WERE in my cohort were super introverted 25 yr old chinese phd student fobs who aren’t that cute. Which isn’t rly my type or most ppls i think.
I’m from another country, I knew id meet more nerds coming into this field but I didn’t realize it would be this bad. I remember frehsman year of college when I was in a frat at my old uni or in hs like I wouldn’t meet ppl I liked in my cs classes but I’d at least be around other girls and had female friends or at least had friends who had cool female friends I thought were attractive or at least were fun to talk to but now it’s just chopped. Normally in this situation I’d ajust ask one of my friends to set me up w someone, but as I’ve gotten older Most of the people I meet at school and work, for lack of a better term, are kinda chopped and also have chopped friends. And are also just very hard to talk to and super introverted.
And yeah I get meet ppl outside of work/school post grad yes for sure but couple issues w that rn. Number 1 I’m too busy during the school year to be going outside of campus w engineering classes and research and clubs etc to be going outside of my uni. For now at least. And hobbies are expensive as a student at least I don’t want to pay for that until I have a job and income. I also don’t have much time. When I’m not in school. My current schedule is I get up at 7:30 -6pm surrounded by nerdy introverted types all day, get home at 7, make dinner and eat, workout, then I have online class, and if I have time I have to study for algorithms and now it’s 1 am. And it’s scary to think that in a year unless I make a startup or smth and get rich this will be my life. I think my only shot rn is literally just stop someone in the street I think is cute and ask for there number, which at my uni is impossible since there are no cute girls, or many women in general. In the city sure, it’s kinda hard to first find someone I think is cute then find a moment where it would socially acceptable to go talk to them. Or idk maybe im just being a bitxh for that last part. Has anyone been in a similar situation?
