AN INTRODUCTION
I have attended Christian and Missionary Alliance churches for the last twenty years after making the move from a mainline protestant denomination back in 92.
The C&MA is an evangelical protestant denomination. The denomination's Statement of Faith can be found here:

The denomination didn't begin as one, it started in 1887 as a parachurch ministry for Christians of all denominations who had a strong belief in foreign missionary work as well as a desire for personal holiness (what we call "the deeper Christian life"). The Alliance would not meet on Sunday's so that people could attend their home churches instead.
Over the decades, the Alliance began functioning increasingly like a denomination and it was eventually decided we should move ahead and become a formal denomination in 1965.
The Alliance distinctive within Evangelicalism is an emphasis on "The Fourfold Gospel" which is a focus on Jesus as our Saviour, Sanctifier, Healer and Soon Coming King.
Thanks!
As a reminder, the nature of these AMAs is to learn and discuss. While debates are inevitable, please keep the nature of your questions civil and polite.
Join us tomorrow when u/CrymsonRayne and u/Hessmix take your questions on the Church of the Nazarene!
