Do I actually need a matrícula consular if I already have a Mexican passport and INE?

I keep seeing people leave the consulate with a passport, matrícula and sometimes an INE, and I’m trying to understand whether the matrícula is actually useful if you already have the other two.

Is there anything in the U.S. where the matrícula works better than the Mexican passport or INE banking, proof of address, local ID, consulate stuff? Or is it mostly redundant once you already have a passport?

Not knocking it, I just don’t want to collect documents for the sake of collecting documents lol. For people who have all three, which one do you actually use?
