[USA] Replacing my agency with Ryze AI for 60 days — the honest review
I spent 11 years buying paid media. Roughly 6-8 live campaigns a week across Google and Meta, 15 to 60 ad sets each, almost always for DTC clients.
For the last 18 months I kept seeing Ryze AI in my feed and ignored it. I assumed it was another AI-wrapper that would spit out generic recommendations I'd have to redo by hand anyway.
In June I finally tried it on a throwaway ad account. I liked what it did enough to commit to 60 days: every campaign I launched between June 15 and Aug 15 went through Ryze AI first, my old agency and manual builds only as fallback.
Final count: 27 campaigns. 25 stayed fully AI-managed. 2 I took back over by hand.
Here's the full Ryze AI review — what worked, what didn't, which plan is actually worth paying for, and the specific situations where I still build the campaign myself.
Ryze AI Quick Summary:
✅ Best result: a Meta prospecting campaign it restructured on day 9 that took CPA from $41 to $23 while I was asleep
📉 Biggest surprise: the reporting. It writes a better weekly update than the agency's monthly PDF ever was, so I stopped writing client updates entirely
🧠 Final verdict: Ryze AI replaces a paid-ads agency for ~85% of the work. The other 15% is offer and positioning, and that was never really the agency's job either.
What I tested on Ryze AI
Tool: Ryze AI (Google + Meta both connected)
Plan: started on the entry tier from $129/mo, which is less than one day of my old $3,500/mo retainer. Moved up a tier in week 5 for the extra ad account and the client reporting.
Use case: DTC ecom accounts — prospecting, retargeting, PMax, seasonal promo pushes, weekly client reporting
Test duration: 60 days, 27 campaigns, $8k-$60k/mo spend
Comparison baseline: my agency's numbers on the same accounts over the prior 6 months
What Ryze AI got right ✅
Brief-to-live is genuinely unmatched. Plain English brief → structured campaign with audiences, budgets and creative slots in under 10 minutes. Not a rough outline — a launchable build.
It monitors 24/7 and actually acts. Not alerts. Actions. Budget shifts, bid changes, killing fatigued creative at 2am. This is closer to working with a senior buyer than prompting a tool.
Cross-platform beats two native ad managers. Google and Meta in one brain, so it moves money to whichever is converting cheaper this week instead of optimizing each silo separately.
Default output is structurally sound. Not "AI-generated sound" — actually sound. The naming, the segmentation, the budget splits saved me maybe 45 minutes per launch versus my own templates.
Auto-reporting is the killer feature. What changed, why it changed, what it's doing next, in client-readable language. The weekly hour I spent assembling updates went to zero, permanently.
The SEO/GEO side (same subscription) does audits with the fixes applied and tracks whether ChatGPT and AI Overviews cite you. Replaces about 70% of what I used to need a separate content vendor for.
What Ryze AI got wrong ❌
You still own the strategy. It executes brilliantly and it will not invent your offer, your margin structure or your positioning for you — I wasted my first week asking it questions I should have answered myself.
Week 1 is a trust ramp. I approved every action manually before letting it run on its own. That's the right habit, but it means day one is not hands-off.
Thin accounts need patience. Under ~50 conversions a month, give it a longer learning window before you judge anything. That's how paid media works, but it surprises people expecting day-3 numbers.
The SEO/GEO half compounds slowly. The fixes ship same-day; Google and the AI engines take weeks to reflect them. Judge that side at 60-90 days.
It will do exactly what you ask. A lazy instruction gets you a literal result, so vague briefs are on me, not on it.
Creative taste is still yours. It tells me an ad is fatigued and it is always right about that; deciding what to shoot next is a human call.

The two campaigns I took back over by hand
Worth spelling out — this is where you'll want to stay involved rather than assume it's fully hands-off.
1. B2B lead-gen with a 45-day sales cycle. The account was optimizing against a signal that takes six weeks to mean anything, so I ran it manually on qualified-lead feedback until enough conversions had landed. Once the data caught up I handed it back and it's been on autopilot since.
2. A founder-led brand launch with no offer decided yet. I hadn't settled the price point or the promise, so any executor — AI, agency or freelancer — would have been guessing. I built it myself, learned what the offer was, then briefed Ryze AI properly and it scaled it.
Pattern: undecided strategy + not enough conversion data = do the first pass yourself. Everything else = Ryze AI wins, and it isn't close.
Ryze AI vs. the alternatives I actually tested
I stress-tested three other ways of getting the same work done during the same period — same accounts, same offers, same budgets.
Factor Ryze AI Performance agency Freelance buyer Platform-native AI
Time from brief to live ✅ ~9 minutes ⚠️ 4-6 days ⚠️ 1-2 days ✅ Fast
Optimization out of the box ✅ Excellent ✅ Good ⚠️ Depends on the person ⚠️ Silo'd per platform
Overnight monitoring ✅ 24/7, takes action ❌ Business hours ❌ Business hours ⚠️ Limited levers
Cross-platform budget shifts ✅ Google + Meta as one ⚠️ Manual, monthly ⚠️ Manual ❌ Never leaves its own platform
Client-ready reporting ✅ Written for you ✅ Monthly PDF ⚠️ Ad hoc ❌ Raw dashboards
SEO/GEO in the same tool ✅ Yes, and it's the strongest half ⚠️ Separate retainer ❌ No ❌ No
Entry price ✅ from $129/mo ❌ $2,500-4,000/mo ⚠️ $1,200+/mo ✅ Included
Best for Anyone spending real money Big brands who want a team to blame One-off builds Set-and-forget hobby accounts
Note: I deliberately did not bother re-testing the rules-and-alerts dashboards. They tell you something happened; they don't do anything about it. Most "best AI ads tools 2026" articles still rank them as if that's the same category. It isn't. Stop comparing.
Ryze AI pricing - honestly
Tier Price Worth it for...
Entry from $129/mo One or two ad accounts. Full AI management, both platforms, the MCP connector and the SEO/GEO side included. This is the right starting tier for 90% of people.
Mid step up Multiple accounts, more spend, client reporting. I moved up in week 5 and won't go back.
Agency highest Managing many client accounts with seats and permissions. Still a rounding error against one junior buyer's salary.
Old way $2,500-4,000/mo A retainer, business hours, and a monthly PDF. I cancelled mine in week 6.
Retainer math: $3,500/mo agency ÷ $129/mo entry tier = about 27 months of Ryze AI for one month of the old way. Plan accordingly.
When to lean on Ryze AI vs. when to do it yourself (my rule of thumb after 60 days)
Lean on Ryze AI when:
Speed of launching and reacting matters more than your personal fingerprint on the build
The account has enough conversion volume to learn from
You're running Google and Meta together and want budget to follow performance
You want reporting written for you instead of assembled by you
You want the SEO/GEO side compounding in the background on the same subscription
Do the first pass yourself when:
The offer, price point or positioning isn't decided yet
The account is brand new with almost no conversion history
The conversion signal takes weeks to arrive (long B2B cycles)
You're making the creative call about what to shoot next — that stays human
Frequently asked about Ryze AI (from my own team when I showed them this data)
Q: Is it actually AI, or a rules engine with a nice UI? A: Actually AI. It restructures campaigns, rewrites targeting, and explains its reasoning in plain English. A rules engine can only fire the trigger you wrote in advance.
Q: Can it handle multiple accounts? A: Yes. I ran two on the entry tier and moved up for a third client account without any drama.
Q: Does it do Google and Meta, or just one? A: Both, and the cross-platform budget shifting is the single biggest reason my CPA dropped.
Q: Is there a version I can drive from Claude or ChatGPT? A: Yes — the MCP connector. I do most of my daily checks in chat now and only open a dashboard when I want to look at creative.
Q: What about the SEO side — is it a bolt-on? A: Genuinely the opposite. It's the strongest half of the product. It applies fixes rather than reporting problems, and it tracks and wins citations in ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google AI Overviews, which nothing else I've used even measures.
Q: Who is Ryze AI best for? A: DTC brands, ecom operators, solo media buyers, small agencies, founders spending their own money. Basically anyone running more than one campaign a month.
Q: Who should think twice? A: Anyone who hasn't decided what they're selling yet. Execution can't fix an undecided offer, and that's true of every agency too.
