Sivga has been making some interesting IEMs lately, and the SM100 takes a slightly different approach compared to some of the more neutral options in this price range.

The tuning is fairly energetic with a noticeable emphasis on the bass and upper frequencies. It isn't trying to be the most neutral or technically impressive IEM around, but after spending some time with it, I found it quite enjoyable for casual listening.

Build & Comfort

The SM100 has a small, lightweight shell with a fairly attractive design. The build feels solid and the overall finish is quite premium for its price.

The compact shell also makes it easy to wear for longer sessions. I didn't have any major fit or pressure issues during my time with it.

The included accessories are pretty decent as well. The cable is good enough to use out of the box and the overall package feels complete without needing immediate upgrades.

Sound

The SM100 has a slightly V shaped and energetic presentation. Bass has a noticeable presence, vocals retain decent body and the treble adds plenty of energy and air.

It is definitely not a set I'd recommend if your priority is a completely neutral presentation.

Bass

The bass is probably one of the first things you'll notice.

It has good punch and enough sub bass presence to give electronic tracks and modern music some weight. The mid bass also isn't completely sacrificed for sub bass, so drums and bass guitars don't feel particularly thin.

The bass isn't the most textured or controlled I've heard, especially compared with some of the more technical sets around this price, but it is enjoyable and gives the SM100 a more lively character.

Midrange

The midrange is reasonably balanced considering the bass emphasis.

Vocals don't sound particularly recessed, although they aren't forward either. Male vocals have decent body while female vocals have more clarity and energy.

The upper mids can occasionally sound a little forward depending on the recording. I wouldn't call them excessively aggressive, but people who prefer a relaxed presentation might find the SM100 slightly energetic.

Overall, I think the midrange works well with the overall tuning rather than trying to make the SM100 something it isn't.

Treble

The treble has good extension and adds quite a bit of air to the presentation.

This is also where the SM100 can become a little bright on certain recordings. I didn't find it consistently harsh, but there are moments where the upper frequencies can sound a little too energetic.

On the other hand, that extra energy helps the SM100 avoid sounding dark or congested. Cymbals and smaller details have good presence, and the overall presentation feels lively.

Technical Performance

Technical performance is good for the price, but not class leading.

Instrument separation is respectable and I can generally follow individual elements in moderately busy tracks. Imaging is also decent, although I wouldn't describe it as extremely precise.

The soundstage has a reasonable amount of width and depth, but the main strength here is how engaging the presentation feels rather than creating an enormous stage.

Detail retrieval is also perfectly respectable. It doesn't throw every tiny detail at you like a highly analytical IEM, but there is enough resolution to keep things interesting.

Comparisons

Kefine Klean SV

The Klean SV and SM100 take noticeably different approaches.

The Klean SV is cleaner and more linear, while the SM100 sounds warmer and more energetic in the bass. The Klean also has a more prominent upper-mid/treble presentation, although I personally find Sivga's treble a little easier to listen to in some tracks.

Technically, I'd give a slight advantage to the Klean SV for separation and detail.

For me, though, the SM100 is more enjoyable when I simply want to listen to music without focusing too much on technicalities.

DUNU Titan X

This one is closer.

The Titan X has a warmer and bassier presentation with a more relaxed musical character. The SM100 feels more energetic and open, with more emphasis on the upper frequencies.

I personally prefer the bass presentation of the Titan X because it has that extra warmth and fullness that makes music feel more satisfying.

The SM100, however, has a slightly more spacious and energetic presentation and does a good job of keeping things clear despite its bass.

So I'd put it this way: Titan X if you want warmth and musicality, SM100 if you want something more energetic and open.

Conclusion

The Sivga SM100 is not trying to win the neutral tuning competition, and I don't think it needs to.

It offers a fun bass response, energetic treble, decent vocals and respectable technical performance in a compact and well built package.

The main thing to keep in mind is that the upper frequencies can get a little energetic on certain tracks, and the technical performance isn't quite at the level of the best performers in this segment.

But if you want something engaging rather than strictly neutral, the SM100 is a pretty easy IEM to enjoy.
