I don’t care about other people’s kids or pets

Basically the title. I’m a mom of a 2.5 year old with another on the way and I absolutely hate talking to other people about their kids or pets. I should preface this by saying I don’t have pets, but I purposely and consciously don’t bring up my own kids in conversation because I don’t expect others to want to hear about mine either.

No one thinks your kids are as cute, interesting, cool etc. as you do. Every time I’ve been shown a picture of a kid or pet or someone “just had to share” something about their kids or pets with me, I genuinely do not care. I don’t care that little Jimmy started preschool or that little Sara started walking. I always pretend to care because it feels like the nice thing to do and I don’t want to yuk someone’s yum, but I don’t actually care.
