I'm 48 and I Need a New Look - Help!

hi!

i'm starting a new job in a few weeks, so i reckon it might be kind of a good time to re-invent myself a little bit? for the last few years, i've mostly been dressing in chinos and plain t-shirts - which i sometimes wear under a smart-ish check shirt from a high street store

i live in a big city, and i see lots of guys my age in cool-looking outfits, but i'm never able to find stuff that i like that fits well or is affordable. after a few of hours of unsuccessful clothes-shopping, i get fed up and just buy the same sorts of things that i always buy. sigh

my new job is a bookseller role for a well-known chain of bookshops, but, outside of that, i'm a musician. i used to be in a noisy indiepop band, but now i make longer, slower, more experimental stuff

appearance-wise, i'm 6'2" and (mostly) slim. i buzzcut my hair, and have a slightly-too-wild salt n' pepper beard

i'm up for wearing fairly colourful clothes. i like the idea of mixing functional / outdoorsy clothes with preppy styles?

i need ideas!
