Of course, you could argue that it's because of everything Bill said to her after that scene where he breaks down in tears when he sees the mask on his bed next to his wife.

But when you watch the movie and realize that Alice isn’t exactly trustworthy when it comes to fidelity—since she very nearly left her daughter and husband just to have a brief affair with the naval officer—in my opinion, it would be somewhat hypocritical of her to cry so much upon hearing everything Bill had told her.

Even though it's the billionaires' eccentric party, I think she'd be more shocked and incredulous than having red eyes from crying so much.

On top of that, there’s also the scene that follows, where Alice tells Bill that Helena would wake up soon and that the little girl would be waiting for her parents to take her to the toy store to pick out her Christmas presents.

Many people here have already mentioned the two men who appear at the beginning of the movie, more specifically in the scene where Bill is going up the stairs to help with his friend Victor Ziegler’s “problem.”

They appear again in the toy store, where, at one point, the couple's daughter walks toward them, and after that, Bill and Alice simply stop looking at the girl and fix their gaze solely on each other.

In addition to their famous exchange at the end of the movie, where Alice tells Bill that they should do it as soon as possible—most likely meaning not only to rekindle the couple’s lost romantic and sexual passion, but also to have another child, since their little Helena was gone because of what Bill had done.

In short, I believe that Alice’s tear-stained face suggests that, as a result of the mistakes Bill made, the punishment would indeed be for his daughter to be handed over to this elite group.

PS: If you have anything else to add or if you completely disagree with me, please feel free to comment here, as long as you do so politely.

I believe that Alice's expression practically confirms Helena's fate
