What actually helped me gain weight after years of being underweight
I've been skinny my entire life and gaining weight was something I kept saying I'd work on but never really stuck with.
Last year I was around 49 kg. I started with food first because I realised I was simply not eating enough. I added things like bananas, paneer, rice and milk to my regular meals instead of trying to completely change my diet.
Then I started going to the gym 4 days a week. Mostly basic strength training like squats, rows, presses, deadlifts and gradually increasing the weights. Earlier I thought doing more cardio would make me fitter, but obviously that wasn't really helping when my goal was to gain weight.
The part I struggled with most was actually my appetite. Even when I knew I needed to eat more, I just wasn't hungry enough.
Currently I focus on eating a rich, protein-dense diet to complete daily protein intake and taking ayuvya weight gain supplement along with MB protein and pre workout.
I wouldn't say one thing suddenly changed everything. For me it was more that I finally had a routine I could actually stick to eating properly, getting my protein in, lifting consistently and using the supplement as an addition rather than depending on it for calories.
I'm at 55 kg now, so I'm still not where I ultimately want to be, but going from 49 to 55 without constantly feeling like I'm force-feeding myself has been a pretty big change.
Curious what worked for other naturally skinny people, did you focus more on food, protein, gym, or supplements?
