Are most YouTube experts frauds/hacks?
Serious question. I will give you an anecodtal examples:
I am a music producer that found some decent success touring in my past life. Most of the Youtubers that teach music production make music that's very subfar and far below pro level, music that would never get signed. And yet they teach how to produce like experts.
Another example - a famous YouTube golf instructor had Tiger Woods' former coach come in for a guest lesson. Wood's ex-coach absolutely shat on the instructor saying his form was the same as 90% of amateurs and he will never be in the top 10% if he doesnt fix his swing. For 30 mins the instructor wasnt able to swing how the elite coach was trying to teach even him.
Lex Fridman is another example- pretends hes an MIT professor when all he did was a couple of guest lectures at a summer recess thing. And spouting out right wing propaganda.
Then you have all the financial advice hacks, health gurus, market analysits, crypto shills, etc.
Theres some absolutely great channels like Gamers Nexus who seem to do good work. But really it seems like the majority of YouTubers are simply guys who captured a niche video market early and now espouse to be subject matter experts. Id say the vast majority of channels should not be trusted. Am I wrong?
