Lightening my bug out load

I'm not sure how many people here are into prepping or interested in the stock experiment, but thought I would ask anyway.

I recently decided to upgrade my backpacking gear and at the same time have been re-watching The Walking Dead. This inspired me to complete my apocalypse preparedness kit that I have been thinking about for a long time.

If some societal event caused you to be on foot for an indefinite amount of time and without certainty of when you will find food, water or shelter, what are you taking with you?

What would you suggest that I take away from this pack out and is there anything that you would add?
