Who here believes there shouldn’t be NGRI? Like at all, ever.

I’m just wondering how many people here believe that no person should ever have an NGRI verdict. I know that this sub is overwhelmingly in support of M1, so I’m just wondering if that’s because people don’t believe a person should ever be considered for a lesser sentencing due to insanity, or do you really believe she deserves M1?

Before this trial, I think I was in favor of NGRI. I actually initially thought that Lindsay was NGRI. Throughout the trial, though, I changed my mind to M1. Then, recently, I started realizing that I’m not sure I’m in favor of NGRI at all.

I started imagining if I had been chosen as a juror on this trial. I imagined having this mindset shift as a juror, and imagining what it would be like to have a strong moral conviction in one direction, but the law is pointing you to make a not guilty verdict, but your conscience is saying guilty. (For the record, I do not believe she was insane, or not able to confirm her actions to the law).

Anyway, I guess I’m just wondering how many people have decided on M1 because they don’t believe in an NGRI verdict? How’s everyone feeling about insanity pleas in general?
