Hey everyone,

I grow in a tight subdivision and I absolutely cannot be stinking up the block with those foul-smelling, sewer-scented weed and grass tea buckets. But I still wanted those insane nitrogen and microbial benefits.

Well, I stumbled onto an accidental discovery this summer under my above-ground pool, and it is the ultimate suburban gardening loophole.

If you have a heavy tarp, some spare yard space, or an old kiddie pool, you can completely skip the rotting swamp water method. Here is what happened:

Fresh grass clippings got trapped completely flat under the solid plastic liner all summer. Total darkness, intense heat, and heavy compaction. Normally, you’d expect a toxic, slimy radioactive wasteland when peeling that back.

Instead, because it was pressed right against the earth, earthworms and native fungal mycelium moved into the buffet. The worms heavily casted the area (neutralizing pathogens and bad smells), and the white fungal spawn completely caked the dead grass into a solid, woven mat.

When I scraped it up, it smelled completely earthy and clean. Zero stench.

The result?

The Dry Mat: You can crumble this caked, worm-and-fungal grass crust directly onto your exposed plants. It acts as an incredible slow-release, nutrient-rich mulch that doesn't blow away.

The Liquid Extract: The runoff water looks exactly like dark grass tea, but it is totally odorless. It works as a premium probiotic root drench.

⚠️ BUT HERE IS THE CATCH (AND THE CRITICAL STEP):

You cannot let that liquid sit in a closed bucket! Because it is unpasteurized organic matter, the second you bottle it up and starve it of oxygen, the beneficial fungi sleep and the hidden nasty bacteria flip the switch. Within a week, it will rot and smell like a sewer.

How to handle it:

Option A: Use the liquid raw within a few days. Just water it straight into your plants.

Option B (The Pro Move): Add LAB (Lactobacillus serum) it's easy to make rice+milk but follow the simple process i have a different post if this is new BAM!(a little joke)—the lactic acid freezes the bad bacteria, stabilizes the liquid, and turns it into a shelf-stable, sweet-and-sour probiotic plant food you can store forever.

Stop choking out your neighbors. Throw a tarp over a thick layer of grass clippings on bare soil, let the worms and fungi do the deodorizing work for you, and harvest the cleanest suburban fertilizer you'll ever find.

In another post soon well get into the perfect time to use this on canabis and what to use at other times of the lifecycle

Hey guys, I know you love your stinky anaerobic grass clipping ferments, but my neighbors don't... Here is how to get the same insane benefits with ZERO smell.
