What year did Singapore become a “developed country”?

Is there a specific year or event where you would point to to say that Singapore changed from being “developing country” to a “developed country”?

What did it feel like going through that period? Was there any celebration for this achievement or did it happen so gradually over decades that it just didn’t feel like there was a determinate event or year where it just clicked?
