A kid stole my daughters toy at the library

My daughter brought her favorite Disney Princess, Ariel, doll to the library. We forget it and I called the library to check if it’s there. The librarian said it is and she will leave it on her desk so we can pick it up. A few days later, I came back to get it and it wasn’t there. The librarian looked around everywhere and couldn’t find it. She said some kid probably walked off with it. I thanked her for looking and that was it.

Who allows their child take a toy that doesn’t belong to them? Maybe if the child is super little, like 2 or under, I understand they don’t know any better, but older children do. If the kid didn’t know any better, the parent should have returned the doll once they realized their child took a toy from the library that doesn’t belong to them. My daughter just turned 4 and would never steal anything. I do my best to teach her right from wrong. If she was really little and didn’t understand right from wrong, I would have returned the toy the second I realized what happened. Idk why parents think it’s okay to allow their children to steal things. It just shows their character and the type of person they are.
