Are mom friends actually necessary?

I was 43 when I had my son and he is now 15 months old. Beginning when I was pregnant I've had other moms telling me what to do. I must use this type of swaddle, I have to get these specific blackout curtains, I absolutely must do sleep training and follow a wake window schedule, I should look into getting a snoo, I need to use this product when he has gas and this for when he's constipated, etc., etc. Turns out I didn't need to follow any of this "advice". My son is super easy, has been consistently sleeping through the night since he was 7 weeks, was never gassy or colicky or had any of the other issues that a lot of babies can have. And yes, I fully realize that I've given birth to a unicorn and I'm super lucky lol.

When out at social events and a mom would ask me how my son is sleeping and I would say "Great! Sleeps through the night every night!" I got met with a sour expression and "well that's nice" through gritted teeth and they would walk away. And if I told people with older/teenage kids that he's a great sleeper they would tell me "Don't say that to other parents, they'll hate you!" I also don't feel the need to constantly talk about my son and make every conversation about him. I want to discuss the latest book I've read or show I've watched or home improvement projects I'm working on. I feel like because I haven't had a hard time with my son, other moms aren't super receptive around me. So it's made me think - are mom friends really necessary? Because in my experience unless you're miserable and complaining about your kid and/or your husband they don't want to talk to you and honestly I don't want to talk to them. Are there any other moms out there who feel the same way because you're the ones I want to hang out with lol.
